The Elgin Echo Dial announces a weekly post office edition dated Sept 1, 1591, issued at Elgin Fayette County under the March 3 act and priced at $2, published every Wednesday by Ty and Bartuner.
Readers, per line Want Ad Rates ten cents per line, minimum charge eighty cents weekly if cash accompanies order. otherwise fifty cents. Blind ads or inquiries to offices are fifty cents weekly. Card of Thanks one dollar. In Memoriam Cards one dollar. Above limits apply to ten lines. extra lines are cents each. Resolutions of Respect and obituary poetry priced at regular rates.
Three Illyria Clipperette members earned special recognition for outstanding workman at the Fayette County Fair booth. Recipients included Gayle Rleppe, Melissa Moore, and Jeannette Strong, with others noted for blue or red ribbons across various outfits and items.
Notice to Valley Community School District electors in Fayette and Clayton counties Iowa that a regular election will be Sept 9 1963 from noon to 7 pm at designated locations. Directors for districts 2 and 3 and a treasurer will be elected, along with a Fayette County board member. Voting sites include Clermont Town Hall Elgin Town Hall and Wadena Town Hall. Gladys Hanson secretary.
The Elgin Study Club met at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday Sept 3 at Mrs. R. P. Strauch's home with co host Mrs. Gordon Mosby. Officers were installed by retiring president Mrs. Thom as Pollock. The program previewed 1963 1934 Widen Your World. Members contributed to Dimes for Liberty and discussed gifts to the Mental Health Institute.
The Marion Junior Lutherans met August 29 at the Marion Lutheran Church. Activities included Hymns, a reading of John 3 16 through 23, a film Sunday Around the World, and slide shows of group members. Officers elected: President Brenda Landsgard Vice Janet Amundson Secretary Kendra Loftsgard Treasurer David Anderson Historian and Photographer Daryl Anderson Reporter Mar lys Houg. New leaders for the year include Mrs Maurice Landsgard for the Junior group Judy Hanson for grades 1 3 Corrine Ry pertains as music director. Watermelon was served after the meeting.
The Marion ALCW met in the church parlor on August 8 at 2 o clock. Hostesses were Mrs. Marvin Staake and others assisting.
Mrs. Roger Staake and Mrs Clar ance Anderson chaired a cradle roll program led by Mrs Morris Lands gard. New members Teresa Meisner Kevin Herr ling Jacqueline Olson Kim Laftsgard Teresa Winter join the Cradle Roll while seniors Clete Christianson David Reierson Diane Reierson David Loftsgard Lowell Hoag Allen Landsgard Thomas Landsgard and David Winter graduate from the cradle roll. Ushers include Mrs Howard Hanson and Mrs Tillie Thompson.
Elgin residents report social visits across Postville and Forest City including the Gehrings Hyde Greeners Dum mer muths Schatz and Conner. Local moves and education notes mention the Schatzs new Rice Lake home and Karen King starting Cedar Rapids Business College.

Families including the Kohlers, Metzgers, Gilbertsons, Blockhus, Frieden, Nutting, and many others hosted or visited friends and relatives. Several birthdays and a fishing trip to Ontario are noted. Rose Pfister escaped serious injury after a ladder incident. Lisa Fauser marked her sixth birthday with classmates.
