Wadena Defeats Hawkeye in Fayette County Football

Wadena six man team beat Hawkeye 44 to 13 last Friday in Fayette county. Frey and Hinkel scored touchdowns in each quarter, with a 26 to 0 halftime lead. Frey intercepted a pass for a third period TD and Minger scored on a Weber pass. Hawkeye’s Curtis brothers added late counters.

Riverside Study Club members met at Mrs. Merlin Cook’s home on October 18 to learn Introducing Color in Your Home. Mrs. Floyd Reavis explained color theory, harmony, and unity, aided by Town State College extension service. The program included music on Handel and The Messiah, followed by a picnic lunch with members and pupils in attendance.

S W Rubyer of Randalia, aged 68, says he has attended 67 Fayette county fairs since infancy. He recalls his first fair as a baby and notes he missed only 1935 due to two leg fractures. He would have attended that year in an ambulance, but the doctor refused. Argo Gazette October 11.

Arlington Couple Killed In Auto Crash Near Hazelton

Mrs. Fred C. King aged 61 and her husband 73 died after their car left a curve north of Hazelton and struck a culvert abutment. The King car was demolished and Mrs King died instantly. He died soon after at Mercy hospital Oelwein. The couple, lifelong Arlington residents, were en route to Indpendence for Mrs. King’s treatment. No children. Reported, possibly sideswiped by another southbound car. Oelwein Register.
