Cheery Valley residents Mrs Marie Butikofer Ruth Shirley and Albert visited Monday evening in the Christen Bros. home. Mr and Mrs George Butikofer were supper guests Sunday in the Marie Butikofer home. Ruth Butikofer joined the Bert Butikofer family to West Bend for the weekend.
Elgin local social notes list Mr. and Mrs. Eldo Meyer and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Kischowsky visiting Mrs. Anne Dennier on Monday. Also noted are calls by Rev. Lee Roy Collins and many locals who supped with Erling Hanson in Manchester.
Mrs Ruth Boyle and Mrs Wm Boyle attended the Hillcrest Club 50th anniversary at Heiser Memorial Library in West Union. Numerous local residents and out of town guests were listed visiting, attending Farm Bureau workshops, Farm Progress shows, church and family gatherings, and dinners across Fayette, Cedar Rapids, Elkport, and Cresco with names including Gehring Miller Blockhus Bacon Jacob Voss Heins, Hanson, Landsgard, Lueder, Kohis, Peters, Peters, Medberry, Larson, Seitz, Fascher, Reierson, Butikofer, Pfister, Molokken, Wander, Holden, and others.
I & Hospitalized Leo Schori released from St Mary's Rochester Thursday. Mrs Schori stayed with him as Mr and Mrs Gene Schori and Leo Jr brought their parents home. Mrs Leo Durnan is a medical patient at Palmer Memorial Hospital West Union. Gustav Krueger admitted to Postville Community Hospital last Thursday in critical condition. Mrs RB P Strauch admitted to Postville hospital Tuesday as medical patient. Mrs Oliver Heins Oelwein admitted Mercy Hospital Monday for X rays and tests. She is the daughter of Mrs Lottie Hermen. Joe Peters Waterloo underwent major surgery last Thursday.
A man injured at the Falls Garage is hospitalized at Postville hospital after entering Monday. Duane Barker is listed as a medical patient at the facility. His condition at Veterans Hospital in Iowa City is reported as satisfactory on the ith floor.
The Friendship Birthday Club met Thursday at Clara Muehlethater home. Attendees included Mdris Grace Evans Anne Howard Metta Krueger Leon Shepard Bertha Lehman Ide Cummings George Vaughn Cas per Freistal Le Roy Collins Dean DeSart and Hulda Nydegger. Absent with gifts were Mrs Ida Pulfer Mrs Ed Boleyn and Mrs Louis Butikofer. Lunch was served by the hostess.
