A local message from Francis Joseph Olson thanks Elgin Local and Auxiliary for sending Christmas goodies to service members. He notes the packages include time and material support and expresses gratitude for the community effort and holiday hospitality.
The Marion Happy Hustlers 4-H club met November 20 at 8 pm in St. Pauls Methodist church with the Robert Hansons hosting. Officers elected for 1968: President Keith Larson Vice President David Meyer Secretary David Anderson Treasurer David Amundson Reporter Enoch Hanson Photo James Meyer. Talks covered dehorning calves diseases in cattle teenage nutrition dental health and habits of deer. A movie titled With the Horse was shown. Lunch was served by Mrs Robert Hanson and Mrs Millard Bilden.

Journal of Friday and Sunday visits across Iowa. Names like Brainard News Frank, Mark, John, Mickey, Dennis, and Jerry Brackin visit Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Gehring in Waterloo. Thanksgiving dinners bring families to Vern Darnell in West Union and Bob Peters in Waterloo.
Gladine Nottnagel and Willis Lyon were Thanksgiving dinner guests in the Hubert Cumming home in Clermont, sharing a quiet holiday gathering with the family and neighbors.
A flood of Thanksgiving and Sunday dinners marked a busy holiday period in Gordon Landsgard and neighboring homes. Dozens of relatives and friends including Landsgards, Gislesons, Nolars, Hoags, Loftsgaards, Kjosays, and Amundsons gathered in Elkader, Peterson, Palmersburg, Colesburg, and nearby towns for meals and visits extending into Sunday and Monday with multiple households hosting guests.
