William Marti died of a heart attack at his Sabetha home on Oct 31 1955 born March 20 1891 near Bern He married Martha Bieri on March 21 1915 had two sons and three daughters Their family included Irene Alvin Streit Lester Leroy Wilma and Mary Surviving siblings six grandchildren two brothers and four sisters A service was held Nov 3 and at the Apostolic Christian Church near Bern Interment followed at the church cemetery.
Mrs Earl Kiple presided as hostess with Mrs Glen Little assisting for the Social Hour Club on Wednesday afternoon. Eighteen members attended, sharing a cooking hint for Thanksgiving, with Mrs Harry Gilson performing a solo and reading a poem. Mrs Walter Dennler read The True Meaning of Thanksgiving, contests were held with winners Mrs Melbert Meyer and Mrs Walter Dennler, a pink and blue shower given for Mrs Randolph Reierson, take away bingo enjoyed, and lunch served by the host.

Boys officers elected: David Helgers on, David Lamborn, Roger Berg, Paul Hanson, Norman Amundson, with Almer Amundson asst leader. Regular meeting time set for 7:30 p.m. on the second Monday each month.
The Marion Busy Bees met November 2 at the home of Carol and Sharon Schup bach. A rally poem on color opened the meeting as members received materials for the 4-H year. Officers duties and parliamentary rules were reviewed. goals for the year were outlined. Elaine Hellum Dorothy Meisner and Karol Loftsgard joined. upcoming events include November 25 4-H officers training and December 1 4-H music and recreation trainers' school in Elkader.
The group votes to hold monthly meetings on the second Monday. The next gathering will be at Helen Christen’s and Marion Christen’s home on December 12. At the Marion township Extension Council meeting on November 8 at Center School members recited the National Pledge the Country Girls Creed and the 4H Pledge.
The Wohanka Camp Fire conducted a gathering at Roberta Wilson's home Monday evening. The Wood Gatherers or Fire Makers groups met, followed by a social evening.
Mrs. Milton Miller had major surgery last Wednesday at Palmer Memorial hospital in West Union and expects to come home this Wednesday. Mrs. Alton Medberry underwent surgery at the New Hampton hospital last Thursday.
