Mrs. Lester Crain was born at Arlington on Sept. 18, 1907, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tray Voshell. She married briefly at Cedar Rapids, then settled in Fayette County where their children Harold and Ivan of Elgin, Lucile and Merlin at home, Linda (Mrs. Robert) were born. She joined the Assembly of Christ in West Union and died at Pakner Memorial on Wednesday Oct. 23. Funeral services were held Oct. 25 at Muehlthaler Funeral Home with burial in Brainard Cemetery.

Keith Nohning announced that 11 Extension Council members will be elected for 1964 65 terms at 9 meetings from Nov 7 to 18 across Clayton County. All residents and qualified voters can attend and vote. The county award program will be presented to 750 4 H club members at each meeting with details for Perry, St Sebald, St Olaf, Monona, and Grand Meadow.
Fayette County 4H hosts cultural awards night featuring winners from school groups and county programs. The event highlights include an international farm youth exchange with a Polish visitor, and Camp Tepcats will receive awards. Interested individuals are welcome.
Figin , Order of Eastern Star will meet with evening program on November 13. Hostesses will be Mrs. Leo Schori, Mrs. Harry Cline and Mrs. Louis Klingman.
Mr and Mrs Loren Frieden and family moved Tuesday to St Joseph Missouri where they planned to settle. The family had previously resided nearby and will begin new community ties in the new location. The move marks a routine residential relocation with no further details provided.
Two Elgin men completed United States Air Force basic training at Lackland AFB Texas and will be reassigned to new bases for technical courses. Airman Carlyle S. Blockhus, son of Mr and Mrs, is among the graduates.
Airman Brackin reports to Amarillo Air Force Base Texas for training as an aircraft maintenance specialist. Both men are Valley High School alumni.
The Birthday Club gathered Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Louis Butikofer. Guests included Mrs. C. T. Fielstul, Mrs. George Vaughn, Mrs. Ed Boleyn, Mrs. Ida Nydegger, Clara Muehlthaler, Mrs. Bertha Lehman, Mrs. Metta Krueger, Mrs. Grace Evans, and Mrs. Thomas Howard. Mrs. Leon Shepard sent a gift but could not attend.
Florence Ann Leibold of Fort Atkinson and Ernest John Johnson wed in a Nuptial Mass at St John Nepomucene Church Fort Atkinson at 10:00 a.m. October 26. Rev Stephen Kucera officiated. Parents Hugo Leibold and Elmer Johnson attended. A reception for 350 guests followed at St Lucas. The groom works at Falks Implement.
The Valley football squad lounge and staff were guests of honor at a steak supper at the Elgin Grill on Sunday evening November 3. Hosts were Mrs. LaVilla Rowland and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Roberts. A car struck a tractor from behind last Wednesday evening north of Rigin area. Driver David Thompson, traveling north, collided with the tractor as he met another southbound car. Freddie Schneider, 10, the tractor’s driver, was thrown clear and unharmed. The tractor sustained nearly total loss. both families are identified with local residents Thompson and Schneider.

DeSart celebrated her sixth birthday Sunday with guests including J A Erickson, Mrs Richard Griebenow, Lanna Clermont, Mrs Bailie, Mr and Mrs Dall Dedate Linda arid Debble Jay DeSart Ruth Barhiuer Forrest Park Til as a house guest of Rev and Mrs Behm. Teachers and officers attended a Tuesday evening event at the Baptist church.
