Iowa Farm Prices Reach 22 Year High in Oct
Prices received by Iowa farmers climbed to a 22 year high on Oct 15 as the index rose to 180 percent of the 1909 to 1914 base. The gain was driven by higher hog and beef cattle values, veal calves, milk cows, and butterfat, with hog prices the month’s peak since 1918 and butterfat the strongest since 1920. Lower corn and firmer feeding ratios boosted overall farm price levels above a year ago and above the five year October average.
