Advertising rates described per line and per word with minimum charges. Blind ads and inquiries carry a six cent per week minimum. Cards of Thanks and Memorial Cards priced at 1.00, limited to ten lines. Resolutions of Respect and obituaries follow regular advertising rates.
Multiple candidates announce runs for Fayette County offices in the June 2, 1952 Republican primary. Hazel Gehring seeks county auditor and W. M. Knox runs for county clerk. Herbert Klammer and Grant Lauer declare for state representative and county recorder, respectively. Robert Wilson and Norman McCauley listed as treasurer candidates. One entry states a candidate will not run for supervisor.
A candidate for Fay-j Ning supervisor seeks Republican voters at the June 2 primary. The notice urges support in the primary and promotes Echo Want Ads as a way to recycle spring cleaning items.
The Fayette County Clerk’s office holds a report of sale in the Rex Medberry et al case against Rosa von Allmen et al. It covers Lots 3 and 4 in Block 1 of Hunsberger’s Addition to Elgin sold to FD Welch for 6000 dollars under contract. A hearing to approve the sale is set at the West Union courthouse at 10 a.m. on the Sunday of June 1952, with bids prior to that time.
Funeral services for Mrs Lawrence Lerch 28 were held Sunday May 18 at Highland Lutheran church Burial was in the church cemetery Mrs Lerch died Thursday May 16 at her Elkader home after a long illness Irma Stannard born Sept 18 1923 on a Volga area farm daughter of Ville Stannard and Mrs She graduated Elkader high in 1941 taught rural school before marrying Lawrence Lerch Sept 23 1945 They lived on a Highland township farm then moved to Elkader Surviving are her husband a daughter Linda Sue age three her parents two sisters and a brother
Clarence Charles Schneider born in Elgin April 1809 died May 19 at home age 43. Son of Joe and Celia Schneider husband of Mabel Dennler who survives. Educated at Elgin High School class of 1927. Served in the army July 13 1943 to 1944 in California and Colorado. Married February 9 1935 and lived in Elgin most of life. Burial details not provided.
