Neighbors including Schlupps Hansons Christens and Meyer households appear with dinners, overnight stays, and host homes. Berg’s ads for shoes and affordable wear punctuate a busy community week.
A jumble of political notices announces Republican bids for Fayette County offices. Candidates include Floyd H. Martin for Sheriff and Linn ie Simpson for County Recorder, with others seeking renomination as County Attorney and for Sheriff. Notices reference the June 2, 1930 primaries and probate actions in West Union.
Eda Zurbriggen hosted guests Monday and Tuesday with Eva Dummermuth. Sheldon Boyle and family visited Ed Boyle on Tuesday. Henry Feller and family called Wednesday at Albert Dummermuth home. Herman Kohls and family visited Wm Kohls and Ed Boyle on Sunday. Herbert Dummermuth and family were guests at Albert Dummermuth home Sunday. D C Dean and family of Elgin dined with Rob Wilson Sunday. Clyde Fox and Mrs Rick Conner of Forest City joined Albert Dummermuth for supper last Sunday. Beatrice Ruby and Clara Boyer spent Wednesday with Georgia and Ellen Stillman. Gladys Feller visited Waterloo and Cedar Falls recently. Leo Grether was a supper guest of Eldred Dummermuth Friday. Mrs Mike Monnahan visited Albert Dummermuth Thursday to help care for Deryl who was ill with flu. Mrs Rob Wilson, and Robert and Genevieve drove to Rockwell City Friday to bring Margie teaching them, returning Saturday. The community mourned the sudden death of Mrs Ward Brabham on Saturday. Sympathy extended to the bereaved husband. Mr and Mrs Lyle Wilson and children and Mr and Mrs D C Dean spent Wednesday evening at Walter Kohls. Mrs Vern Northrup and son Algie were visitors in the Lyle Wilson home. Wilsons shirts and shorts priced at 75 cents at Berg's.
Art Stahl of Oelwein pleaded guilty at West Union last Wednesday to a county attorney information charging chicken theft. He was taken to Elkader where Judge Eickendorf sentenced him to five years in the state penitentiary. The twenty two chickens were taken from Grant Keil's farm south of Fayette and a poultry dealer named Stahr testified selling birds matching the description. Stahr also used the name Henry Martin and was arrested by Sheriff A A Robertson. Straw hat time is here. Berg is showing the latest. Arlington High School graduated a class of twenty this year. Their school closed last week on Tuesday.
