Mr and Mrs Earl Kiple entertained the Legion and its Auxiliary Monday evening with a social gathering and refreshments, reflecting a community in active civic participation.
Mabel Rennison and sister Anna spent the weekend in Fayette. Bud Gordon of Greenfield visited the L. B. Carter home Monday. Craig Moser of Strawberry Point stayed with the George Vaughn family Sunday. Ruth Mosby Josephine DeSart and Orville Bunting of Cedar Falls spent the weekend with Elgin relatives. Agnes Crowe Belva Benson Hazel Frieden Winifred Elizabeth McMillan enjoyed dinner Monday at Mrs. N. M. Fritz. J.J. Durscher Sr. has been reported not well recently but showing improvement. Geraldine Schori hosted women teachers for a six o'clock dinner Friday at her parents’ home. Attendees included Belva Benson Marie Mosby Hazel Frieden Gilma Olson Agnes Crowe and Mrs. L. B. Carter.
A set of notices lists multiple Fayette county Republicans announcing candidacies for sheriff recorder and county attorney, all subject to the June 2 1920 primaries. Names include Thore Thompson Floyd B Martin W B Stone C Carmichael Linn ie Simpson and H J Nehring with residency towns West Union Oelwein Elgin and State of Iowa. A probate hearing notice for Curtis L Chapman last will and testament is scheduled in District Court West Union Iowa June 2 1920, with Edgar A Traeger clerk.
Dover Mills notes a Saturday visit by Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Brause of Waterloo and Sunday dinners with Ed Johnson and H. K. Johnson. The column lists visits to West Union Clermont and Waterloo, with Mrs. Ezra Rowland and others calling on Mia Rowland and children, and two girls sightseeing in Waterloo.
