Gunderson Warns on Potential Corn Borer Damage
Iowa State College entomologist Harold Gunderson says spring weather may boost corn borer damage this year. If corn is planted early and grows fast, larvae on larger plants survive better, risking higher losses than last year when Iowa corn lost about 3 dollars per acre. The survey continues and farmers should monitor fields to decide on insecticide needs.
