Flowing Well at Elkader Boosts Water System
A Flowing Well at Elkader reports drillers Mesara Casautt and Gerdes struck Bt Petsra sandstone at about 150 feet, water flowed, and by Tuesday flow rose to over 25 gallons per minute. The find promises cheaper pumping, lower costs, and improved water quality, per the Elkader Register. The overland limited on the North Western ran late Wednesday night from Clinton, but gained time to Cedar Rapids. Several short rapid sections and a Mt. Vernon hill run marked the journey. Merchants trend toward cash sales, with benefits for buyers and sellers alike. Dr. Hegler, a veterinary surgeon, relocates to Oelwein, joining local practice. Aurora Observer notes Dr Hazlet, Chicago Veterinary College graduate, highly recommended. One Minute Cure advertised as a quick cough remedy by Steeile’s Pharmacy.
