Adolph Ole Christ Ruroden born September 8 1873 in Clayton county died April 30 at his daughter Mrs Robert Barker's home in Elgin aged 76. He spent life near Elgin and was baptized at Marion Lutheran church. Married Rose Odegaard September 21 1907. they had 14 children. Survived by wife eight children two sisters one brother 23 grandchildren one great grandchild and many relatives. Funeral May 3 at Marion Lutheran Church with Rev Stranford officiating. Pallbearers named Leslie Burden Millard Gilbertson Clifford Giselson Norman Osmundson Arthur Larson Burnell Larson.
A Wednesday evening performance in Herwig hall featured a massed musical group from Wadena Elgin and Volga with a girls chorus and sextet under Leo Grether. Guests included Arlington residents at the Wilfred Bond home.
Mrs. Carrie Thorson visited Clarence Olson's home last Wednesday. Mrs. Bertina Buraas and Gloria from Postville were at Mrs. Caroline Erickson's on Wednesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Halver visited Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Olson of Clermont spent Friday forenoon at Mrs. Julia Landsgard's. Mrs. Caroline Erickson called there Monday. Bert Lyngaas and Leona spent Monday with Helmer Lyngaas. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Olson and Quinton and Mrs. Mina Olson were dinner guests at Louie Olson's Sunday. Mrs. Caroline Erickson and Mrs. Lloyd Ranez and Clarice were at Saturday afternoon visit.
Sunday and Saturday visiting at several homes including Arthur Olson in Clermont and the Landsgard families with Halvorson kin. Larrabee school closed for a picnic, while Luther College candidates and Upper Iowa University activities feature local residents. Elgin news also notes the American Legion Auxiliary gift box drive and honors for Luther and Upper Iowa students.
