Dean V A Phillips of the University of Iowa commerce college foresees a prosperous era after the war. He cites immense bank deposits savings for peacetime spending and large-scale production of commodities aided by wartime knowledge, plus deferred demand for many articles and new products. He argues that labor problems can be prevented if the government demobilizes armed forces to align with industrial reconversion and that government and industry must closely collaborate.

Albert Schupbach J W Schneider and Ruth Schneider took Mrs Paul Larson to Town City university hospital for further treatment. A local want ad note invites buyers and sellers to place ads.

Elgin residents Mr. and Mrs. Howard Boyle and Mrs. Vera Conner hosted and attended dinners at the Walter Kohis home. The Kensington Club met Monday with seven guests, including Mrs. R. W. Muehlenthaler and Mrs. Tryphe Knudtson, ending with bridge at Klingman’s cafe. Prizes went to Miss Gehring, Mrs. Lulu Schmid, and Mrs. Ern Holzer. Major D. B. Williams, returning from the South Pacific, visited at the Postville station after arriving in Chicago. Dinner guests at Lew Grover and H. F. Robbing homes included multiple local families and visitors from Hawkeye and West Union.
