The confirmation class of May 12, 1912, of Marion Lutheran Church Gunder held a fiftieth anniversary reunion on May 13 at the church. They attended worship, presented hymnaries, then shared dinner and fellowship. Of 17 original members 15 attended including Mrs Gilmen Enutson Renner South Dakota and others. two members were absent. Relatives and friends joined the event.

William H. Brackin Obituary Recalls Long Life and Family

William Henry Brackin, born April 18, 1878 on the Brackin homestead west of Elgin, died May 10 at Postville hospital at 89. He lived with brother B. H. Brackin, moved to Elgin in 1945, cherished children Joe Dorothy Andrew and Mary Frances, enjoyed music and sports, and valued his bicycle and memories of attending girls basketball games.

Long Life of Oelwein Man Noted for Travel and Club Service

An elderly resident born in 1896 endured frequent moves and long journeys, riding daily until heavy snows halted him last autumn. Health declined through winter, cared for by sister-in-law Mrs Inez Brechin, transferred to Postville Community Hospital, and later laid to rest after last rites at Muehlethgler Funeral Chapel and St. Pauls Church. Burial in West Union cemetery followed with casket bearers Harold Raverson, Charles ONeill, Leo Falk, Thomas Pollock, Doic De Sart, Louis Dennier.
