The Allamakee Hatchery this week shipped the first of several turkey chick batches for Cornelius Reier of Gunder. The chicks are strong and healthy and expected to reach marketable size by next November, promising a fruitful venture for the turkey raiser.

Mr and Mrs Jack Knight and others hosted Sunday visits from families including Irish of Charles City Dummermuths and Conners. Neighborhood residents attended gatherings, weddings, and church circle events across Fayette, Forest City, Elgin, and Charles City with multiple calls at homes and a funeral in Charles City.
Maren Halverson Skorg, born February 23, 1850 in Ness Hallingdal Norway, died March 12, 1980 at her son Torvald’s home in Pinewood Minnesota. She emigrated with her parents to Clayton County Iowa and married Ole Moen in 1871, with two children Dorthea and Albert. After Ole Moen’s death in 1874 she married Knudt T Knudtson in 1882, eight more children born, and she was survived by sisters Segrnd Engen and Mrs Hans Olson. Buried beside her husband in Bethel cemetery Wenger Minnesota.
Miss Clara Holzer hosted six o clock dinner for her pupils on Monday evening. Guests included Coronel Rothlisberger Helen Opal Harold Dennler Gerald Shaffer Leroy Gehring Jerome Geraldine and Dar lene Yearous. After dinner the group played games and sang. They left around eight thirty with all reporting a good time. Coronel Rothlisberger stayed overnight.
