Elgin Lutheran Church Women Meet in March Session
The Elgin Lutheran Church Women met March 16 in the fellowship hall. Hostesses were Mesdames Stutrud Butikofer Nelson Torkelson Schneider and Blockhus. Ushers were Mrs Severpel and Mrs Butikofer. Devotions by Mrs Fauser covered Psalm 32 and posed prayer questions. Mrs Stutrud sang solo Sag My Sins on Jesus. Meyer showed New Guinea Mission slides explaining World Missions. It was voted to donate to the Lutheran Childrens Home at Waverly. Executive board set evening meetings to begin in May.

Elgin Soldier Serves in Grafenwehr Training Exercise
Army Sgt. Leo L. Schori Jr. of Elgin participates with the 3d Armored Division's 1st Cavalry in a six week field training exercise at Grafenwehr Germany. The phase ends March 28. The exercise covers cold weather day and night maneuvers. The Graswnohtr training area is NATO's largest in Europe. Schori, a communications chief in Kirch Gens Headquarters Company, entered the Army in 1959 and arrived overseas in March 1959. A 1951 Elgin High School graduate, he attended Upper Iowa University. his wife Diane accompanies him.
