House Governs Slow on Gas Tax Rise and Open Seasons

The Iowa conservation commission backed its director despite a state audit criticizing two airplanes and high mileage. Governor Beardsley ordered a formal audit review, while the commission plans to sell the aircraft. Petit jurors may see pay rise from three to five dollars daily, awaiting the governor’s signature. Open seasons on yellow bass warmouth bass sunfish and bluegills were ordered, with dates set for fishing liberties. The first Republican US Senate candidate is Congressman Thomas E. Martin of Iowa City, aiming for Guy Gillette’s seat, a move that may prompt others to enter the race. Martin’s entry could affect the First District race as jockeying for nominations begins.
