The writer laments lack of sunshine hindering corn and hay, notes weed growth and pastures, and predicts knee high corn by July while urging more favorable weather to restore normal farm activity.

Carl Blockhus born November 4 1868 in Stord Norway died June 20 1950 aged 83. He married Carrie Valvaine December 2 1886 in Stord. They migrated to America in 1888, lived near Clermont then Normandy Minnesota before settling back in this community. Survived by children Emma Ewen Marie Ole Michael and Clara. one sister and two brothers. Funeral at East Clermont Lutheran Church June 24 officiated by Rev. Victor Fiskerbeck with burial in adjoining cemetery.

Bertha Abbey of Cedar Rapids and Clara Sutter of Monona visited Elgin on Friday calling on friends and relatives. Alma Tripp and Mary of Janesville Wis. joined for an indefinite visit. Mry and Mrs. Dale Jensen, Vernon Wede and Sherry ONeill were dinner guests Sunday. Ida Christen and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Light and Letha spent Sunday at Clear Lake.
Muehle thaler and Zurbbriggen families were dinner guests Sunday for Jimmie Zurbbriggen’s first birthday. Robert Wilsons attended a picnic in Roy Knight’s Postville home in honor of Gene Knight of Pueblo. Hugh Conn and family spent the weekend in Rochester with Thos E Howard and D C Dean, while Adella Chapman entered West Union hospital for a seven day medical stay.
