Memorial day activities at Riverside Park as Girl Scouts earned badges and painted picnic tables while a group named Valley Lassies attended. A May graduation event highlighted a BA degree among the troop, with eight girls and a guest present.61
Electronics Technician Seaman Paul V. Amundson of Clermont took part in an amphibious assault near the DMZ while aboard the guided missile frigate Joseph Strauss. The ship participated in operation Beau Charger to insert U S Marines into the southern DMZ buffer area for a search and destroy sweep south of the Ben Hai river. Marines from the First Battalion Third Marine Regiment evacuated civilians before the sweep as carrier aircraft from the South China Sea and Tonkin Gulf conducted air strikes in support.
Local families honor confirmands Eddie Thorson Terry Hulbert Kathryn Guyer Ann Nelson and Roger Olson at multiple West Clermont Lutheran events. Guests include Alphie Thorson Norris Rejerson Clarence Thorson William Bacon Selma Kohls Genevieve Anderson Ben Hulbert Helen Osmundson Violet Behn Clark Renee Johnson James Anderson and many relatives.
Clermont residents are invited to wear 1200s era costumes for Larrabee Appreciation Days on July 22 and 23. A costume contest for individuals couples and families will be held with sewing and costume patterns advised. Town and Country Study Club sponsors the event with committee members listed.

Mr and Mrs Nels Gilbert mark their 50th wedding anniversary with a June 18 celebration at West Clermont Lutheran Church from 2 to 4 PM. No invitations are sent and all are welcome to attend.
Brownie Troop 351 met Thursday at the Legion Hall with twelve members answering roll call. The group advanced through the Brownie Promise and collected the Gold. Rochelle and Roxanne Amundson joined as new members. The program, Outdoors On A Penny, featured a scavenger hunt and a crab race. Cindy Bear served lunch. future meetings will include lunch service by leaders.
The Bucks drawing Saturday evening named winners: No 1 80.00, J M Lennon absent. No 2 10.00, Mrs Clav Miller present. No 3 75.00, Barbara Sautter present. No 4 10.00, Mrs Marie Kohls absent. Next Saturday June 10 the prizes rise to No 1 100.00 and Nos 2 3 4 for 316.00 each.
The resuler monthly of Sheahan Olson On will be held Tuesday June 13 at 2 pm at the Legion Hall. Ree members will have a Flag Day program with Mrs Ralph Schutte county president as guest. Election of officers will be held. Hostesses are Miss Andine Vasby and Mrs Mary Olson.
The Clermont Township Farm Bureau Homemakers met at Mrs. Mike Finnegan’s home on Friday May 12. Devotions were read, and reports covered County Committee activities and safety tips on twisters. Members discussed markets and Iowa tourism, roll call had 9 attendees, April minutes approved, nominating committee report given, next meeting set for September, Coins for Friendship collected.

The final summer meeting will be held June 14 with a picnic at City Park starting at 12 noon. Election of officers will be held.
