June 5 New York reports a major settlement among Morgan Hill and Harriman factions over Northern Pacific control. The plan would align the Chicago Great Western, Chicago and Northwestern, St Paul, and other lines with Morgan Hill leadership, ending major conflicts and harmonizing trans Mississippi railroads from Chicago to the Pacific coast for east west freight to the Far East. J P Morgan travels to the United States tomorrow to formalize the accord.

Duluth June 5 One of the year’s biggest lumber deals in Northern Minnesota was completed Saturday as Tower Lumber Company purchased the Tower Logging Railway company property including railroad equipment, Bear Head Lake sawmill, and 10,000,000 feet of standing pine for $225,000. Tower Lumber took possession yesterday, placing it among the state’s leading interior lumber manufacturers.
Seven thousand dollars were found under a sidewalk near the former boarding place of Stewart Jelieff in Wis during a robbery case at the First National Bank. Two nitro glycerine bottles, a set of skeleton keys, and a letter were also recovered by private citizens.
Bids opened at the treasury for the Helens Montana United States public building. R A Griffen of Chicago submitted the lowest bid at 268600 dollars, excluding heating apparatus, electric wiring, and conduits.

At the Atlantic mine in Trou Belt Wisconsin on June 6 John Lamont and Andrew Somzak were buried under a large fall of ground. Lamont was recovered after eleven hours but died an hour later while Somzak was already dead when found.
London reports the Uranline convent at Boppard on the Rhine destroyed by fire. The blaze cost the lives of three women. Official details and cause remain unconfirmed as authorities investigate the incident.
In Lyona France on June six four persons died and fifty three were seriously injured when an electric train ran out of control and plunged down the incline. Also on June six James Maxwell aged eighty one was struck and killed by a freight train while crossing the WMuola Central track. the body was mangled.
A mob of 30 to 50 men seized five suspects at Lookout hotel, dragged them to a bridge over Pitt River and hanged Calvin Hall 72, his sons Frank 26 James 16, and B D Yantis 27. The four others were hanged on nearby bridge approaches. Authorities from Alturas head to the scene for an inquest.
In Covington Kentucky Ottie Hester 42 Kate Hea ter 32 and their three year old daughter were found dead after a quarrel at the Western avenue and Third Street home. Kate Hester shot Ottie and the child then killed herself at the supper table after a heated dining room quarrel. The cases were discovered when shots were heard shortly after seven o clock.
Queen Wilhelmina and Prince Henry witnessed Emperor Wilhelm II reviewing the Berlin garrison. Afterward the queen rode to the royal castle with the empress as the emperor led the First Guards, with the Dutch prince on his right. On Unter den Linden they were greeted by the burgomaster, city officials, and 24 white-robed maidens who offered a bouquet. The queen thanked them in brief words.
Washington June 2 The agriculture department statistician estimates total cotton planted at 27,592,000 acres up 2,111,000 acres or 8.3 percent from last year and 2,498,000 acres or 10 percent more than actually picked. The average crop condition is 81.5, the lowest June level in twenty years except for one year.
Corunna reports a strike turning mutinous with officials mutinying. Gendarmes were summoned to quell the disturbance. One rioter was killed and ten wounded during the unrest.
El Paso June 2 reports a nearly ten thousand dollar shortage in the accounts of cashier Mare tines of the Mexican Central railroad at Torreon. Martinez left Torreon two weeks ago.
