Busy Beavers 4-H Club Holds May Meeting at Church
The Busy Beavers 4-H Club met May 13 at East Clermont Lutheran Church. President Diane Frieden led the roll call of 26 girls. Bonita Kjosa elected delegate for county council. Plans made for an all day meeting June 14 at Marjory Amundson’s with sack lunches. Program included Citizenship talk Sonja A, demonstrations by Kaye Loftsgard Becky Thompson Patty Amundson D’Ana Cline and Bonita Kjosa, plus a personal appearance contest. Sr winners Frieden 1st, Cummings 2nd. Jr winners Cline 1st, Kendra Loftsgard 2nd, Patty Amundson.

Asparagus Pack Slowed Up This Year
The asparagus pack began with ideal growing weather but a sequence of cool and dry conditions slowed production. A rain in the near term could restore pace through June and bring the pack back toward normal. About 25 workers are employed at the factory during the pack.
Luther College grants BA to record class of 265
Luther College awarded the bachelor of arts degree to 265 seniors Sunday June 2 in the largest commencement class in its 102 year history. Local graduates include Kenneth T. Kjosa Jr Elgin business administration Sandra J. Bilden Postville English and Latin Janet A. Johnson St Olaf elementary education.
