The Marion Busy Bees 4 H Club held a Mother Daughter Tea on Tuesday afternoon May 27 at leader Mrs Bernard Hanson home. The program featured Dreaming and Country Girls Creed with pledge and novelty music followed by grooming contest judged by Mrs Kenneth Kerr and Bernice Blockhus. Dana Gilbertson won best groomed and will compete in El kader.

Clayton County 4-H clubs plan seventeen local tours in June. Most tours are all day with a noon picnic for members and families and include judging practice and fitting demonstrations. Each member will exhibit a project before the group with softball games at noon among members or fathers and boys. Tours include Grand Meadow Go-Getters June 4 Valga Township Feeders June 7 Volga Pioneers June 14 and Highland Busy Bees June 21.
Wm. R. Blake announces an $80 million Iowa construction program to boost electric power for homes farms and factories. Eleven privately owned Iowa Utilities Association members, producing about 86 percent of the state's electricity, report 1947 investments of $22.75 million and plans for 1948 1949 totaling $57.61 million. The three year total reaches $80.35 million with 850000 HP of new generating capacity planned plus many miles of new transmission and farm lines.
In a light columnist tone, Rich notes neighboring papers quipping Fayette county is going to the dogs after the Echo reported assessors filed nearly 500 more license applications than any year. He recalls calling Sol Weissman in Chicago to rush another 500 dog tags, joking about an emergency.
