Elgin Council Approves Electric Contract for Pumping Plant
The July 2 1956 Elgin Iowa Town Council meeting approved a budget hearing for July 23 1956 and a contract with Interstate Power Company for electric energy to run the municipal pumping plant. The contract sets rates 3.0 cents per kWh 7:30 am to 9:30 pm and 2.0 cents per kWh 9:30 pm to 7:30 am with a minimum $1 per month per connected motor, a 5 year initial term with possible 5 year extension, and payment due within 15 days of each month’s billing.
