The Clermont Comets won the 1963 4-H Softball Tournament held in Fayette. Coach Archie Schroeder and Leslie Anderson guided the champions. Runner-up was Scott Hot Shots, with Bethel Rams, Fairfield Indians, Westfield Whirlwinds, Smithfield Livewires, Union Eager Beavers, and Windsor Spark Plugs also competing.

Funeral services for Mrs. Adolph Nesvick were held Monday at 2 00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church West Inion with Rev Paul Meyer quieting. She is survived by a daughter Mrs Walter Martin one step daughter Mrs Hilder Bilden four sisters Mrs Honey Olson Mrs Harry Yauslin Mrs Ray Reierson and Mrs Gerhard Halverson. Burial was in Clermont. The obituary will appear next week. BIRTH Donald Yauslin and wife have a daughter Kim Renee born July 4 at St Luke’s Hospital Cedar Rapids. They also have a daughter Dawn Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Byron Yauslin Clermont and Mr and Mrs Milton Gordon of Postville. Mr and Mrs E P Johnson were dinner guests Wednesday of Mrs Johnson’s sister Mrs Gena Anderson.

On July 2 they beat Union Township 14-4 Fairfield Township 10-3 and Scott Hot-Shots 19-5 in Fayette. Everett Rowland Kenneth Schroeder left for Canada as 4-H Youth Exchange members.

The East Clermont Junior Lutherans held a regular meeting on Thursday June 20 with Patty Amundson presiding. Devotions were led by Jenny Olson. The primary department presented a piano solo by Gail Erickson. Minutes were read and approved. The offering hymn was by Marsha Lyngaas. Thirty eight Fayette County 4-H members depart Monday for the Indianhead area in Saskatchewan Canada to live with Canadian host families for a week. They will participate in family living community activities learn farming methods churches and schools and the Canadian Extension service. Noted participants include neth Schroeder of Clermont.
