Prices Received by Farmers for June
The June 15 index of prices received by town farmers stood at 170, unchanged from May, while prices paid for living and production averaged 155. The ratio of received to paid prices, for three months, is the most favorable to farmers since 1919. Grain futures showed a general decline, with corn up one cent and other grains off one to ten cents per bushel. Soybeans and flaxseed fell ten cents. Slaughter livestock values barely changed except meat animals up one point. In farm produce, chickens and eggs posted small gains while butterfat and wool fell. The feeding margin widened for poultrymen, with one dozen eggs equaling 13.1 pounds of standard poultry ration on June 15, up from 12.5 on May 15. Hog-corn and butterfat-dairy feed ratios edged lower.
