The P. V. Farm Bureau home makers met January 11 at Mrs. Elmer Frieden's home. Twelve members and guests attended. New chairmen Mrs. Richard Frieden and Mrs. Clifton Miller led activities. Topics included Scotland study, publicity, legislation, property taxes, and services. Scholarships and a trip to the young people's conference were discussed. The next meeting is February 8 at Mrs. Dale Seitz's with a lesson on Food Becomes You by Miss Donna Leubka.
The District Court of Fayette County Iowa appointed Almer Leo Nelson as Executor of Alma Nelson deceased. Creditors must file claims with authentication for court allowance and all debts should be paid to the Executor. Dated January 14 1963. Traeger and Koempel Attorneys West Union Iowa.
The 4-H Christmas party for Marion Happy Hustlers took place December 22 at East Clermont Church. Roll call asked what each member wants for Christmas, a short meeting was held, a 90 cent post card bill was approved, and program inserts for the next year were distributed. Afterward, recreation and gift exchanges occurred, and lunch was provided by Mrs Veryl Coffin and Mrs Clarence Kittelson. Reporter Harlan Tilpher Bilden.
State aid warrants for pupil transportation have been mailed from the county superintendent's office in West Union. Amounts include Arlington 4859.37, Fayette Community School 3921.30, Worth Fayette County Community 13761.95.

Pleasant Point Study Club met Wednesday afternoon January 9 at the home of Mrs. Howard Meadberry. Roll call responses and short articles from Mrs. Harold Strong opened the meeting. Members voted to comfort the Lima family whose home burned last week and planned another comforter for February. A bushel of apples will be sent to the County Home. Members displayed quilts, with prizes won by Mrs. Hary Feller and others. Lunch was served. next meeting February 12 at Mrs. Harold Strong’s with a 10 am start.

The Marion Busy Bees 4-H Club held its meeting on January 7 at Charlan Butikofer's home. Fourteen members attended the roll call, and 7:30 p.m. was set as the start time. The program included a presentation on Parliamentary Procedure by Sylvia Hanson.

The wedding of Kay Ellen Birky and Lyle D. Meisner took place Sunday December 16 at The First Christian Church Center Point with Rev Galen G Clark officiating. Miss Birky wore Chantilly lace and tulle with a fingertip veil, carrying white roses and carnations, and was attended by Glenya Kimper and Dorothy Meisner.
Mervin Larson of Elkader and Cindy Birky were married with Lonnie Lerch as ring bearer and a reception held in the church parlor after the ceremony.
The Valley High girls defeated the Fayette Cardinals 60 to 16 for their 11th win of the season. Leading scorers were Karen Olson with 18, Jamie Rothlisberger with 17, and Fayne Triem with 16.
The Valley Tigers defeated Fayette 64 to 51 in a boys basketball game at Fayette on Friday January 11. The win extended Valley’s winning streak to five games. Larry Halverson led with 32 points including 3 free throws, while Lyle Anderson added 14 points.
An 80th birthday celebration featured many guests including Luella Gilbertson and Harry Helgerson from Waukon. Mrs Helen Elmer Larson and Pearl Peterson joined the gathering with other honored attendees such as Milford Olson, Sheila Aine, and Gus Gilbertson along with Helga Bilden and Lizzie Thorson. George Hanson also attended the event.
Mr and Mrs Norris Capper Fost Sulaycean and Mee Lloyd capper Lansing announced their marriage at a ceremony in Lansing with family and local friends in attendance.
