Gordon Schupbach son of Mrs Anna Schupbach was quite ill last week but is much better now. The minister remarked that the welcoming church collection proved the poor would be welcome. Several Lehman families and Elizabeth Lehman with daughters Celia and Ella visited, while J F Miller and Ervin drove to Buffalo Center to visit the Walter Miller home. Diseases Reported in Elgin Territory and Local Fire Truck Talk
Hemorrhagic septicemia of cattle white scours in calves and fowl cholera are three diseases reported to the Northeast Iowa Veterinarian Assa from the Elgin territory the past week. It is reported also that there has been much azoturea among horses and it is suggested that horse owners be warned against moving animals so affected. Arlington and the surrounding farm community are considering the purchase of a chemical fire truck. The expense would be divided between town and country. A. H. Albright and George Wilson of Oelwein spent last Wednesday afternoon in the J. D. Shaffer home Mr. and Mrs. I. D. Hendershott of Oelwein spent Sunday with Elgin relatives. Margaret Anna Kiple died at 5 a m Monday at the West Union home of Mr and Mrs C H Burnham. She was eighty six and had lived in Fayette county eighty two years. She was the last survivor of all but one in her family of four sisters and three brothers. Funeral held Wednesday at 2 p m from the M E church. Interment in West Union cemetery. Born July 24 1843 in Sarminia Germany she came to America at age three and settled in Fayatte county. Married July 30 1859 to G W Kiple, lived fifty two years together, he died Jan 9 1911. She had lived with the Burnhams for nineteen years. Surviving eight children and forty one grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren. Argo-Gazette.
