Munsingwear. Max Thomas N. W. Evans discarded his crutches Tuesday and is hobbling without outside help. Wm. F. Miller's Christmas dance last Friday drew well. Frieda Freiburghaus hosted Elgin teachers over Christmas vacation at the Muehlenthaler home. Emma Muehlenthaler visited from Rock Valley. Floyd Patterson of near Volga City visited Elgin. his family are in Waterloo with Mrs. Kerr. C. S. Kniel displays a half grown possum in his store window, not a pet store venture. He found the animal while caring for chickens on a winter morning.

Elgin High Boys Win and Lose in Season Opener

Elgin High School teams opened December 20 with the girls losing 13 to 9 to Maynard as Georgie Meyer led the scoring and Maynard pulled ahead late. The Elgin boys won 21 to 8 over Maynard with Olson and Kiple starring as Elgin used a new defense and pulled away in the second half.
