Alfred Olson died Sunday night at Independence hospital after a cerebral hemorrhage. He had been ill since April 2 and is survived by his widow and six children. Funeral services were held Wednesday at West Clermont Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. B Knudsen. Obituary to follow next week.

Twenty five years ago Mrs Edna Prybyl returned to Clermont from Chicago where she is engaged with the Women s Symphony Orchestra. John F Miller of Clermont contracted for three and a half tons of burned wheat in Festville. Clermont endured a cold wave and blizzard since December 7 with a persistent wind. Miss One Rounds spent days here and travels via Europe to California. Louis Anfinson son of Lars Anfinson Des Moines died last Monday after illness. A five member American Legion committee was appointed to study starting movies in Clermont after the new year.

Auxiliary Activities On December 9 Meeting At Miller Home
The American Legion Auxiliary met at Mrs. Willet Miller's home with Mrs. Franz Appelman assisting. The treasurer reported 40.60 sent to the county USO chairman. Donations from Town Daddies Aid, Clermont Study Club, Priscilla, B. & P, Legion Auxiliary, and Grand Meadow Study Club totaled several dollars for Crusade for Freedom and hospital gift shops. Gifts valued at 12.60 sent to Knoxville gift shop. six to seven dollar gifts planned for Clermont veterans in hospital. Two men’s suits given to aid sending to veterans’ hospitals. Members asked to donate used suits or top coats and playing cards for hospital veterans.

Clermont streets glow with evergreens and a large lighted tree at Cline's lot. Santa visits Saturday afternoon December 20 with treats for children. A free movie for local kids airs Tuesday afternoon December 23 at the schoolhouse, with treats. Both events are gifts of the Clermont Commercial Club. Merchants awarded eighteen merchandise prizes and two turkeys at public drawings each Wednesday evening and Saturday afternoon in December.
