Dial switch completes in Rock Valley area

Rock Valley residents have begun using dial telephones after a full switch over completed last week. A coin picker malfunction led to a fatality near Defiance in late November. Mike Nallen, 54, died at Manning hospital from injuries suffered the prior day. A Maquoketa girl, Sandra Burkhead, 8, started first grade after years in hospitals and wheelchairs. Mrs Elizabeth Schlesselman and daughter Glorene manage a Poweshiek county 200 acre farm since Mr Schlesselman’s illness.
