Dr. Roy DeSart spent Thanksgiving at his Mason City home while Mrs. Mary Spahr moved to her daughter Mrs. Fred Kohler’s residence to spend the winter season.
Mary Frances Hoyt spent from Thursday until Sunday with relatives at Fayette. Wilma Steinmetz spent Thanksgiving vacation with Dr. R. V. Brandt family at Clermont.
Deliska Barnhouse, born May 21, 1891 in Fayette county Iowa, died Nov 28 1930 near Brainard after a long illness. Survived by husband Harry Stillman four children two sons and two daughters, three sisters and four brothers. Funeral services were at St Paul’s Methodist Elgin with Rev J J Snyder. burial Brainard cemetery.

Our new sheriff FE H McGhee of McGregor has chosen Louis McLane of Strawberry Point as deputy sheriff when the new officers take office at the start of the year. McLane is widely known across the county and well qualified to help manage the county jail and inmates.
The Conner family and relatives gathered at Mrs. Ed Boyle’s home to honor Emily Conner with the annual memorial dinner begun after her 1886 death. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Howard Sr and others. next year’s 1981 dinner will be at Mrs. Thomas Howard Sr.’s Elgin residence.
Oak Grove residents hosted and visited across Thanksgiving week with Albert Dummtermuth and family calling on George Hyde, Frank Lyons and family at the Boyle home, Walter Kohls hosting relatives, and numerous outings including Mrs. Harry Stillman’s death the week before. Notable gatherings included Sheldon Boyle and Mrs. Nyles Hogan of Chicago visiting in the Kohls and Conner households, and Ed Boyle hosting guests with Mrs. Jessie Loftegard’s family visiting her parents.
Thanksgiving gatherings across St Paul and nearby towns featured extended families dining together. Names include Gils Olson, Mr and Mrs B W Muehlenthaler, Ray DeSart, Chas Feller, France DeSart, A M Weibel, Sam Lehman, Lena Benson, Bolsa Capper, L E Benedict, O H Larson, Halver Larson, Philman Embertson, M E Benson, Wm Torkelson, and Co Torkelson. A trip to Chicago and a hospital stay in Rochester are noted.
