In Arlington, Robert Jennings claims Grand Champion baby beef with Angus BLUE-Robert Jennings. Billy Erickson of Wa dena earns Red honor as Reserve Champion. Steven Drewes of West Union takes second in 2% Year Old gilt. Robert Gee of Sumner named Grand Champion earlier for beef.

Patty Amundson and others displayed baked goods with blue cookies box cakes and muffins in a county fair exhibit. The Busy Beavers 4 H Club and Clayton County were represented in Des Moines from Sunday to Wednesday with demonstrations by Myra Anderson and Sylvia Haneon.
State Fair 4-H Nutrition Results exhibit list shows entries from plain cake to angel food cake and fruit and vegetable jars. Named participants include Karen Eilers Luana Virginia Miller Farm ersburg Marilyn Jones Monona Margaret Hanson Elgin and others in the 4-H exhibit hall.
Herbert Hack of Belleville New Jersey born July 29 1902 in St Paul Minnesota died August 12 1961 after heart attack in Belleville He was son of Rev and Mrs R J Hack former pastor of First Baptist Church Elgin He was predeceased by his parents a brother Raymond and a sister Frieda Rohrer Survived by three brothers Reuben in Anchorage Alaska Carl in Belleville and Walter in Aberdeen South Dakota and a sister Luella Heerts Parkersburg Many nieces nephews and friends Graveside services were conducted by Reverend Eldon Schroeder pastor First Baptist Church on Saturday August 19 Burial was in Elgin Mississippi Valley context inferred but not explicit.
The Rev Don Caspers and family returned home after a two week vacation with relatives in Monticello. Ralph Clark and family came from Victor ia to spend the weekend. Mrs Guernsey Smith celebrated an 80th birthday at Mrs R D Smith’s home in West Union. Local residents attended events at Cedar Repliis and Hotel Roosevelt including Harper-McIntyre.
The Woman's Society of Istian Service of St Pauls will meet September 7 with Mrs Elmer Frieden and Mrs Ernest Holset as hosts. Worship by Mrs Martin Wenger. Program by Mrs C J Schori. A display of flowers fruits and vegetables will be shown. Members are asked to bring items from their gardens or neighbors.
