William Walthers Died Last Tuesday Morning
Wm A H Walthers a 67 year old painter and paper hanger of Elkader died shortly before noon Tuesday Aug 21 after a stroke at the convent of the Presentations Sisters. He was taken home where he died an hour later. Funeral services were held at his home Friday afternoon and Frieden's Evangelical church at 2 pm led by Rev Paul Kitterer. Burial was in East Side cemetery Elkader.

The 16th annual Duff Dempster reunion was held at Volga park on Saturday Aug 25 with about fifty relatives and several guests. The oldest member was Ed Smith 81 and the youngest Robert Duff months old. Six births four marriages and four deaths were reported during the year. The group plans to meet next year in Arlington park. Lyman Martin Des Moines reports buying a home at 648 26th St.
