Schneider Reunion At Elgin Park

One hundred fifty seven descendants of Joseph Schneider gathered at Elgin Park on Sunday August 5 for a reunion and 4 p.m. picnic supper. The oldest attendee was Dan Butikofer Sr and the youngest was Robert Dean Schneider Jr both of Elgin. Over the past year there were two marriages 20 births and four deaths. The next reunion will be in 1964 at Mason City on the first Saturday in August with a noon picnic. Mrs Nima Fehr of West Bend helped organize.

Elgin Reunion Committee Names Co chairmen and members

Amundson Reunion Held at Monona Park

The Amundson reunion gathered July 29 at Monona City Park with numerous families from Mason City St Olaf West Union and nearby towns attending. A program led by Otto Hallberg included hymns devotions readings and performances by the Amundson quartet. A brief business meeting elected Milo Gisleson as president and named numerous officers and committee members from West Union Monona and nearby communities.

Pink and Blue Shower Held for Mrs Hagelie at West Union

A pink and blue shower was held Friday evening, August 3, for Mrs. Berdean Hagelie at the Heiserman library fellowship hall in West Union. Hostesses were her aunts Mrs. Ed Christensen and Mrs. Clarence Buroden with assistants Sandra Christensen and Mrs. Kenneth Halverson. After contests and games Mrs. Hagelie opened her gifts and lunch was served. Several relatives attended including Mrs. Alfred Martie, Mrs. Bert Breuhahn of Monona, Mrs. Mike Quario of Oelwein, Mrs. Clarence Hagelie, Mrs. Ed Schweinefus, Mrs. Waylord Schweinefus of Ossian, and Mrs. Clarion Hagelie.

Pleasant Point Study Club Hosts Members And Guests

The Pleasant Point Study Club entertained on Tuesday afternoon July 31 at Mrs. Harold Strong’s home. Hostesses were Mrs. Orran Bane Mrs. Allen Habeger Mrs. Matilda Feller and Mrs. Mabel King. Members introduced guests and presented rose corsages. Guest speaker was Mrs. Lucian Appelman Clermont who spoke on African violets. A Totem Poles demonstration by Tantha Strong and Maryanne Metzger followed. Lunch was served by the hostesses.

Elgin Iowa Council Adopts Budget In Special Session

P. V. Sharpshooters Plan Skating Party and Bake Sale

The P. V. Sharpshooters met at the Reeder home on July 9 to plan a skating party for July 16 and invite other clubs to join. A bake sale on July 7 funded the club project. Roger Reeder took part in a discus event at a Fay ette Canadian party.

Obituary of Floyd Odegard from Iowa family note

Floyd Odegard born June 19 1914 in County Iowa to Charlie and Lydia Odegard. He served in the military from July 24 1942 to November 7 195, spent his life in the Gund er Elgin community and died July 28 at Memorial Community Hospital Postville at age 43. He leaves his mother five sisters two brothers and preceded by his father and one brother and sister. Card of thanks expresses thanks to all who helped.
