Advertising Deak flow Asbestos Roofing Co. complaint
The Federal Trade Commission cites Asbestos Roofing Co of Boston in a case of unfair competition over its Asbestos Liquid Roofing. The agency alleges ads claim a long lasting, weatherproof roof coating made from altered asbestos and other materials, but the complaint says the product is 95.1 percent coal tar, 4.8 percent asbestos and 1 percent mineral ash, with asphalt present so minimal as to be undetectable by standard analysis, rendering the advertisements false and misleading.
