The Clermont High School newspaper notes eight students approved for initiation into the Cler mion chapter of the National Honor Society. Eligibility required a B average, a leadership award in two activity fields, and full faculty approval. Inductees: Ellen Kneeland, Leo Hiegel, David Guttner, Mary Olson, Paul Hackmann, Shirley Olson, and Vera Hangartner.
The Freshmen News notes spring fever at school as students juggle literature on Bridges Yeats Kipling and Stevenson while studying WWI in history and fractional equations in algebra. Elizabeth Paynter and Ardys Osmundson demonstrate marble brownies in home ec, essays from magazines enter English class, and three minute reports ask how the school could expand offerings and improve the community.
Mr and Mrs John Nuehring and family of Dubuque spent the Easter weekend in the John Schultz home. Mr and Mrs Robert W Steele and children of Dubuque spent the Easter weekend with the latter's mother Mrs Bess Blake. Easter guests in the Verni Eagle home were Mr and Mrs Reuben Svendsen and family of Lawler and Mr and Mrs John Bakewell and daughters.
A string of visitors and local gatherings marked Easter weekend in Clermont. Families from Cedar Rapids Ossian Montebello Monona and Oak Park shared meals, attended services, and hosted relatives. Local residents DeWayne Johnson Grinnell College dining council member and several others joined family dinners and church events.
Local households report Easter Sunday meals and visits with relatives from Sioux Falls Cresco Dubuque and Waterloo. Families hosted dinners in West Union Maynard Arlington and Calmar while neighbors held a birthday party at George Rounds home. Visitors from Miami and Salem joined extends family in sharing meals and good spirits.
Luana hosted a gathering at the Carl Voelz residence with guests from the Ralph Schrader family of Postville joining in.
