Shaffer Schmidt wed at Wlyria church in April ceremony

Miss Shirley Shaffer daughter of Mr and Mrs Ralph Shaffer married Richard A Schmidt son of Mr and Mrs Mary Schmidt of Tripoli at 3 pm Sunday April 17 in the Wlyria Community Church. Rev E G Steimman officiated. Attendants wore light blue organdy gowns and bouquets. Guests signed the book, a cake was cut, and both families planned a southward honeymoon followed by a Waterloo home after April 26.

State lawmakers enact to validate and authorize five hundred twenty five thousand dollar school building bonds for Clermont Elgin district in Fayette and Clayton counties. Cattle on Feed April 1 Up 8 Percent

Cattle on grain feed in Iowa feed lots are estimated at 1,256,900 head on April 1, 1955, the Iowa Crop and Livestock Reporting Service reports. This exceeds the prior April 1 high of 1,163,000 head in 1954 and marks the second largest total since 1943, behind only 1,274,000 head.

Grain cattle and grain stocks in January to April 1955 report

Marketings of grain fed cattle during the January 1 to April 1 period totaled 349000 head, 2 percent below the year earlier period. Deed grain stocks on farms April 1, 1955, were slightly smaller than a year earlier but above the 10 year average. corn stocks were smaller while oats stocks were larger.
