Iowa liquor bill ends session amid contentious debate
The Iowa legislature fought over liquor control as both chambers rejected an all-out investigation of the Iowa Liquor Commission. The Senate's vote was party line, while the House margin was narrow. A later Senate bill 34 to 13 aimed to fix major flaws by barring the commission from buying liquor except from distillers. The measure would also constrain out-of-state sales practices by requiring Iowa agents.
