Clarence Kohls and Clifton Wilson were callers Saturday evening at the Ed Butikofer home. Mrs Harold Bennett and Mr and Mrs Ed Boyle spent Monday in West Union. Mrs Elmer Pinney helped at the Will Kohls home. Mrs Ed Boyle Mary Flanagan and Mrs Walter Kohis and sons visited at the L W Reed home Sunday afternoon.

Elgin Pioneer Businessman Dies in Quiet Farewell

A long respected Elgin figure, Harold Areentey joined the silent halls of death after a life of community service. A closing benediction and Bryant quotes framed the farewell as family members Mrs. August Benson Mrs. Lewis Benedict and others expressed gratitude for neighbors’ kindness.

Resolution of Respect for August Benson and Lodge Mourning

Silver Leaf Lodge No. 618 of A F and A M approves a resolution mourning August Benson who answered the Divine summons and rests in the home beyond. The lodge room will be draped for thirty days and sympathy extended to Benson’s family, with a copy sent to his wife and published in the Elgin Echo.

Mrs. John Erickson born February 4, 1851 in Sweden died March 20, 1928 at her son’s home in Marion township after four weeks illness. Survived by sons Edward Armory Wisconsin Albert Minneapolis and R Marion township daughter Clara Leonard Elkader a brother and a sister. Funeral March 27 at Highland Lutheran Church with Rev. Gunston officiating. Burial in Highland cemetery.

Pioneer Brigritte Jacobson Knudtson Birth and Death Notice

Brigritte Jacobson Knudtson was born December 5 1639 in Hallingdahl Norway. She married Jacob Knudtson in Norway and the family immigrated to America in 1881 settling in Highland Township then Marion. She died March 10 in Marion after pneumonia aged 42 years 3 months and many descendants survived. Burial followed at Marion church with officiant W Tyodad.

Births, deaths, and family of Thomas E. Mork of Marion

Thomas E. Mork born April 15, 1859 in Marion township Clayton county Iowa. He died March 28, 1928 from heart trouble after seven years of stroke effects. He married Molly Buroden May 1, 1900 and eight children survive with their mother. Children: Mrs. Lou McNally Enoch Millard Robert Selmar Otto Mellion Anna May. Also eight grandchildren two brothers Peter and Knudt of Elgin and a sister Mrs T H Olson of Marion. A carpenter by trade he spent most of his life in Marion township and his faith rested in Christ.
