Marion ALCW held its March 15 meeting with hostesses Mrs. Kenneth Mork Mrs Arthur Landsgard and Mrs Louis Kjosa Ushers were Mrs Enoch Mork and Mrs Lloyd Loftsgard Four guests attended The group sang Walk in the Light Devotions and Bible studies Christ Leads Us in Paths of Light A skit Fashions for 1962 featured KD as model Minutes of the Decorah conference board were read Funds will be given to the Carl Otte family missionaries from South Africa traveling in June Gifts funded baptismal gowns and jackets for New Guinea mission Daeschel New Guinea mission business manager The standing rules committee and a record player committee were elected Gifts were received from several members Birthday songs were sung Adjournment followed Lord's Prayer and table grace.

Allan Longmuir born April 23, 1889 in Carluke Scotland died March 26 at Sherman Hospital Elgin Illinois. Immigrated to the United States at age 21 settling in Volga Iowa Highland township on Richard Probert farm. Married Elizabeth Kerr February 24, 1916 at Robert Kerr home. they raised two sons John and Robert. Member of Volga Presbyterian Church. His wife died September 14, 1942. He farmed most of his life, moving to Arlington in October 1943 with his son Robert and family.

Funeral for Douglas Longmuir Held at Illyria Church

Survived by two sons John of Elgin Illinois and Robert of Arlington and sister Mrs Robert Pearson Carluke Scotland, six grandchildren and many friends. He died after major surgery at Sherman Hospital Elgin Illinois following a short illness. Funeral services Thursday March 29 at Illyria Community Church led by Rev Dak Neilsen and Rev Donald Caspers. Pleasant Valley Homemakers Join 38th Farm Bureau Women Day

Pleasant Valley Farm Bureau Homemakers attended the 38th annual Farm Bureau Women's Day on March 19 at Maynard. Mrs. Kenneth Blockhus and Mrs. M. J. Blockhus led the Pleasant Valley table display, with several articles made in the past year. The program opened with county officer Chas. Schlumbohm, county music chair Edward Krueger led singing, and a bread judging contest awarded Mrs. Garston Krueger second place for white bread. Speaker Mrs. Kermit Jensen of Waverly spoke on Understanding Australia and Her People, sharing facts about the country’s products and schooling. Attendees from Pleasant Valley included multiple Blockhus, Krueger, and Frieden family members plus others.
