Mr and Mrs Harold Halverson and Steven were supper guests Sunday of Mr and Mrs Robert Bemiss at West Union. Steven were callers Sunday of Mrs Blanche Waterbury also at West Union. Mrs Christine Schori Hawk ye was a guest of Mrs Bertha Lehman Saturday and Sunday. Word is received that Mrs Alden Pinney Benton Missouri who had surgery last Friday is making a satisfactory recovery.

Elgin student Frieda Miller tops spelling contest

Frieda Miller of the 6th grade won as Elgin schools champion and will represent the town in the county contest at West Union on Saturday. R W Muehlenthaler of City Drug Store purchased an 8 hole Frigidaire ice cream cabinet with a new cooling section, forming a complete refrigeration unit. Frank Kiple Clifton Mealey and John Falk USU students spent the past week at home. William Whitney of USA Fayette visited his brother Charles Whitney in Elgin. Mary Hanson of Postville visited her parents, the Hansons. Fred Griesinger and family moved from the Hadsel Building to the Helena Olson house on Main Street. Mr and Mrs L B Carter and son Louis visited Prof and Mrs Jeffery Patterson at Decorah.

Fayette County Board Seeks 1953 Aids and Bonds

Fayette County Iowa Board of Supervisors met January 13 1953 in the Court House. They appropriated 25239 24 for dependent children aid and 3459 00 for Blind Aid for 1953. The official bond of Fayette County Farm Bureau and the bond of L A Wouldridge Justice of the Peace were approved.

Fayette County Funding Bonds Consideration In 1954

Fayette County Iowa officials consider issuing 980,000 in funding bonds to cover unpaid indebtedness stemming from an earlier judgment. A February 1954 meeting will initiate bond proceedings at the County Courthouse West Union with notice to be published in The Fayette County Union.

County Bridge Bond funding approved for emergency needs

A county plans to issue principal bonds to raise funds for emergency bridge construction. The bonds will recapitalize existing indebtedness outstanding as of January, evidenced by a judgment rendered in the district court of Town, in Fay County. The plan awaits formal approval before the stated date.
