Richard Stewart Birthday Party Celebrated Friday

Rev and Mrs John Moore hosted a Sunday morning 9 oclock breakfast at their home for Eldora Methodist seniors attending Sunday school and church who graduated with the 1953 class. Nineteen members attended a Young Homemakers social evening. Mrs Don Schwarck spoke on games and decorations for showers. Refreshments were served by the hostess. The next meeting is scheduled with Mrs Victor Schwarck on June 4.

Mrs Jackson Hosts Bridge Group Gathering

Birney Jackson entertained her bridge group Thursday afternoon at 2 o clock with a dessert edge. Mrs Henry Wheeler attended as a guest. Ladies wore centennial gowns for a dress parade and history of the gowns. Mrs Lee Lundy won high score followed by Mrs Howard Caffee and Mrs W H Longepecker. Wheeler received guest prize. The meeting ends for the fall season.

Meather Daughter Banquet Set for St Mary's Church

The annual Meather Daughter Banquet at St Marys Church is scheduled for Monday June 1 at 0 pm in the basement hall. Committee chairmen include Mrs Carroll Shafer Mrs Harry Lawless Mrs Bill Megan and Mrs George Stauffacher with assistance from monthly committees. Tickets may be obtained from committee members.

Bridge Club Meets With Mrs Rodgers For Dessert

Bridge club gathered at Mrs. Rodgers home for an afternoon dessert. Mrs Miriam Briel attended as guest. Prizes were awarded to Mrs Lyle Hubbard and Mrs Beecher Crosley. This was the last meeting of the club year, with plans to resume after summer vacation.

Blue Star Mothers Plan Convention in Eldora

The Blue Star Mothers of America met with Mrs. Car Bales hosting and Mrs. Geo. May assisting. Fifteen members attended with guest Mrs. L. J. Montgomery. They sewed carpet rags for Knoxville veterans hospital and set June 18 for the Eldora convention, naming Henrik Fauerby general chair and Paul Davison Daisy sale chair. The next meeting June 11 will be at Mrs. Ilo Radolph's home.

Mrs. Kimmel Hosts Methodist Bible Class Potluck

The Methodist Bible class met Wednesday at 12:30 for a potluck dinner at Mrs. A. E. Kimmel's home. Twenty three members and two visitors, Mrs. Chester Wieman and Mrs. Minnie Fick, attended. A short business meeting followed by a social afternoon.

Girl Scout Troop 7 met Wednesday to honor members and leaders. Beverly Backes Karen C nee Ellen Dillaven Jane Gr iel Lilian Hickman and Mary dune Starn received awards and cookies were served after the ceremony.

B-8 Bridge Club Meets With Miss Setchell Host

Miss Marcia Setchell hosted the B-8 Bridge Club on Wednesday evening with guests Mrs. Art Juhl and Mrs. Glenn Archer. Prizes went to Mrs. Walter Wehrman high, Mrs. Roy Lightfield second, Mrs. Ed Lackey third, and Mrs. Harold Williams low. refreshments were served. The next meeting will be a June dinner party marking the end of the season until fall.

Mrs Struck Hosts Cemetery Society in Eldora Meeting

The Eldora Cemetery Society met Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Martha Struck with co host Mrs. Addie Nehring. Fourteen members attended as urns at the cemetery were being filled and petunia plants set out before Decoration Day. Refreshments followed. The next meeting is set for June 4 at Mrs. Chester Modlin's home.

May club events listed for Rebekah Lodge and groups

A sequence of May events noted includes Rebekah Lodge at Sans Souci with Mrs W M Muller, BPW party with Mrs Ed Anderson, N Club with Mrs Ruth Lewis, Tuesday Bridge Club with Mrs John A Wood, Beta Sigma Phi with Miss Pat Irwin, Child Study Club with Mrs Don LaVelle, plus groups like yprana Glenn Kurtz Group IV and Frank Sheldon on May 27. Activities continue May 28 with a Bridge group and Junior Legion Auxiliary, then May 31 Friendly Fellowship class with Dale Petty, and June 11 Young Adult Class at the Methodist with Cecil Rooks. Hawthorne Club dinner by husbands, St Mary 1 Banquet for 63 in the dining room, Wesleyan Service Guild picnic, and a Mother-Daughter event at the church scheduled for o'clock.

Double 4-500 Club Meets At Mrs Kewatt’s Home

The Double 4-500 Club gathered Friday evening at Mrs Emma Kewatt’s home with all members present. After a brief business meeting they played 500. Clara Raske won high prize, Herman Roll low, Ernest Orgell rover, Mike Mossman draw prize. Refreshments were served. Anna Roll hosted on the 15th.

Lutheran Pastors At Conference Here

Seven pastors from the Eldora circuit of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod met at St. Pauls Lutheran Church for a pastoral conference. Three vacancies will be filled next month as Rev. Holm goes to Buckeye June 21, Rev. Ellerich to Grant Center June 14, and Rev. Hast to Dillon. Father Mahoney Addresses Eldora Seniors at Graduation

Father George Mahoney delivered the baccalaureate address at the Eldora high school gym, praising teachers and parents for guiding the seniors. He urged graduates to face adult duties, crush evil, and strive to live worthy of heaven, with music by David Lloyd George and a vocal duet by Kathleen Albin and Jim Foster.

Catholic Retreat Starts Tomorrow at St Marys Church

A two day Catholic retreat for parish youth begins tomorrow at St Marys Catholic Church led by Rev Father George Mahoney with 7:00 am mass on Wednesday and 8:00 pm conferences both days. Father Patrick McElliott of Monti Iowa conducts the sessions open to all unmarried parish youths.

Commencement Tomorrow at State Training School

Commencement exercises will be held in the school's chapel tomorrow at 2:00 PM for five 12th grade and 26 8th grade boys. Rev. Howard Johnson of First Baptist Cedar Falls will be speaker, with invocation and benediction by Rev. Howard Blandau. David Lloyd George will play a marimba solo. Athletic and special awards will be presented.

Woman Summoned for Federal Jury Duty in Cedar Rapids

Mrs. Glenn Whorrall was called to petit jury duty Monday in the Cedar Rapids division of the U.S. District Court. She recently wed and will be subject to call for six months.

Few Want Falls Postmaster's Job

Interest in the Iowa Falls postmaster position is weak with only five or six applicants seeking forms. Acting postmaster L L Weldon said it is unclear how many have filed. The deadline to apply to the Washington office expired today. The postmastership pays 5570 a year.
