Eldora Girl Scouts mark National Girl Scout Week continuing through next Saturday with local troops joining nationwide celebration of the program’s 43rd year. The observance highlights training girls to be loyal, trustworthy citizens and uses daily themes to reflect various program phases. Community support urged for ongoing Scouts activities.
The Vocational Rehabilitation Division of the Department of Public Instruction restored 785 disabled Iowans to work in 1953-54. Orlan Mitchell of Eldora earned a place on Grinnell College Dean's List for high scholastic achievement during the first semester. The honor requires at least three A grades. Mitchell, a Grinnell senior and 1951 Eldora Consolidated High School graduate, qualifies for the second semester.
Mr and Mrs Carroll Mulford and daughter Sandra of Omaha Nobi visited over the weekend with Mrs M Mulford in mourning the death of Mea Mulford and Marla Kauffman, Mea Mulford's mother.
