Bathing Beauty Contest Tops Friday Attractions
The Eldora Centennial Bathing Beauty Contest drew 90 young entrants in two age divisions 6 to 10 and 11 to 16. Cheryl King and Joan Backes won first prizes each receiving a 15 inch trophy. Second place went to Ann Longenecker and Jean Button who won Woodward’s and Graham's merchandise coupons. Third place prizes of 200 dollars went to Lynne Dornsbach and Janice Cramer. Top seven in each group earned one dollar awards and judges included Woody Fisher Jim Heinie and Jack Clark. Co chairs were Mac Greene and F C VanDerVeer.

United Markets Appoint Pratt as Manager in Eldora
United Manager Floyd Pratt, arriving from Ottumwa, will oversee the Eldora store after years with the United chain. Pratt is married with two children. Merle Stevens, who led the Eldora store for four years, plans to open a new United supermarket in Clarinda on July 22.

Brothers Killed Near Hubbard in Highway Crash West of Hubbard
