Trade balance myth spurs call for China blockade
Government stance treats U S goods given away the same as sold abroad, aiming to balance trade by absorbing equal value. From 1950 to 1954 free world exports to communist nations rose from 144 billion to nearly 195 billion while free nations bought about 10 billion from them. Senator Knowland advocates a Red China blockade in response to these figures.
