Storm damages crop and property across Hardin county
Early estimates place damages in the thousands after a Sunday afternoon storm with strong winds hail and rain. The Hardin county area near Steamboat Rock suffered widespread crop loss including oats corn and alfalfa up to 90 percent destroyed. Windows roofs and household items were damaged with about 30 school windows broken. Several farmers and residents are named for damage reports and hail injuries to livestock and people.

The Rev. Ralph B. Imes, pastor of the First Congregational Church in Eldora for nine years, announced his resignation to be effective in August and has accepted a home mission post in the Rainy River Parish of Northern Minnesota. He joined Eldora in 1949 from Arena, Wisconsin, and is a Navy veteran with degrees from the University of Indiana and University of Chicago, plus studies at Wisconsin, William Beary College, and Michigan. He and his wife have three sons: Bill, 15. Du es, 14. and Tom, 10.

Runkels Return From St Louis National Convention
Mr and Mrs Homer Runkel of Eldora returned Friday from St Louis where they represented Eldora senior citizens at the second annual national convention of golden age and senior citizens clubs. Eight workshops covered activities of senior citizens. The Eldora group was unique in being composed only of men. The local senior citizens will assist with the boat display at Eldora for governors day on Tuesday. The ladies day meeting will be held Friday at 2 pm at the home of Howell Boyd. The ladies are asked to bring a few cookies and Mr Boyd will furnish strawberries.
