Control Sheep Ticks By Spraying After Shearing
Spraying sheep soon after shearing is advised to control ticks. Use 8 pounds of 50 percent DDT powder and 2 pounds detergent in 100 gallons of water. Two quarts per animal, spraying with low pressure until wet. DDT kills on contact and remains effective for 4 to 6 weeks.
Spraying Sheep for Ticks Proves Cost Effective
The article explains spraying sheep for ticks using at least 50 psi, with safe use on all ages including day old lambs. It notes ticks spread from ewes to lambs in spring, that spraying can keep flocks tick free for a year, and that cost is about five cents per animal, cheaper than dipping, with ticks surviving only on sheep.
