Prices Seen Sooner Break for Autos Appliances If Steel Peace Arrives
Economist Gordon Bivens at Town State College says a settled steel dispute could ease prices for automobiles, home appliances, and furniture. He notes flat auto demand in 1952 with possible buyer's market if production rises, plus ample appliance stocks and potential price concessions. Shipping, defense output, and material supplies support continued orderly markets in coming months.
