Hubbard and Vicinity Annual Party and social notices

Mr. and Mrs. W. Comvay hosted the annual New Years party of the M. H. B. club and the husbands of Gearing with a potluck dinner. Numerous local residents and visitors attended meetings, dinners, and family gatherings over the weekend, including Iowa State student John Reid and many Hubbard area families. Several households hosted guests from Ames, Eldora, and Des Moines while others celebrated birthdays and medical or hospital events.

Radcliffe Man Quits Quaker Elevator Job

Omer C. Lenning, after 28 years with the local elevator and 24 with Quaker Oats, retires as local manager. Earling H. Hanson of Stanhope succeeds him and has begun duties. Lenning remains connected with the company here and will spend time at the elevator. Shirley Clelland of Betagy Iowa becomes new manager of the cod grinding mill, replacing Poulson, with Vernon Larson continuing at the factory.

Clayton Kellison Dies After Long Illness at 42

Clayton Sylvester Kellison aged 42 died Monday after a long illness. Born October 28, 1906 in Eagle Lake Texas, he later lived in Elmer Missouri and then in town. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Bergeson funeral home with Rev. C R Yeager officiating. Burial followed at Zearing cemetery. He was the son of Frank and Kitty Kellison and had suffered injuries from a youth accident.

Sievertes Attend Nehring Funeral in Marshalltown

Mr and Mrs Paul Sievert attended the funeral of their nephew Bill Nehring in Marshalltown Thursday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Marion Bailey of Roland visited Sunday afternoon in the Moyd Bailey home.

Whitten Ladies Aid Plans Church Clock and Tablecloth Gift

The Methdist church Ladies Aid held a covered dish dinner with 22 members. Thirty eight dollars were raised. Mildred Weaver led the after-dinner meeting and the group voted to donate a clock and eight tablecloths to the church. The next dinner is set for January 20.
